I am thinking of investing in a moving truck to advertise. I am not certain to go with a image ad campaigne or something image plus direct response. Has anyone had any success with trucks?

I have a moving truck and the bottom line is the truck will create opportunites for future business and the truck will help you make more sales. However, they are a pain in the butt for either you or your staff. If I had it to do over I would have still bought the truck but not used it as a moving truck...I would have used it as a sign/delivery truck and still got the billboard marketing benefit. Sure, some of the good will would be lost but the added strain on your staff is simply not worth it to me. An example would be is someone needs the truck on Sunday morning which means either you or someone on your team is having to deal with keys, walk around the truck, contract and disclaimer, make copies of insurance and drivers license. Before you get a truck seriously consider what your goal would be in purchasing a truck. If it is marketing...great...if it is good will and value added service I think there are better ways to spend your time and money.

I will second what Sam said. 100%. Having it as a place to store signs, use as your own delivery truck etc is the only way to go. The idea of lending it is a serious hassle. For the occasionaly charity you can lend it out.
Branding (ego ad stuff) really is tough to track and rationalize.

moving trucks are a trend from the 90s. They were the 'must have' for many agents. Someone once said that if you cant track it dont do it......has there ever been a seller who listed their home with an agent because the agent lent them a moving truck? Not likely.
just because people KNOW WHO YOU ARE doesnt mean they will call you.

Well, I sort-of agree, however, consider the moving truck is an exceptional advertisement. Billboards, radio commercials, newspaper ads, add them all up and a truck is cheap. I get a lot of use out of mine and have developed great relationships with many people because of the ability to be generous with it. Dont do it to get more listings but it is a great idea to add to your advertising. WATCH OUT FOR REPAIR BILLS! $750 for two new front tires (I have a large truck)

If someone is calling you because they want to use your truck for free....they dont want to spend the $150 to rent their own truck and/ or cant afford to hire movers....is this the kind of seller who you want as a client?
