Why does a lender NOT want the borrower to declare BK? Does this stop or
prolong the foreclosure process and for how long?

You are right lenders do not want the borrowers to declare bankrupcy, it does take longer and they have to pay the Attorney more money. The length of time is different for each state I am sure.
